Enterprise risk dashboards

Create a coherent view of risks, controls, action owners and emerging concerns.

Built around a specific business need.

An enterprise risk register becomes less useful when it is treated as a periodic collection of coloured boxes. Leaders need to understand what could affect their objectives, which controls are working, what has changed and where action requires a decision. That context is often lost between departmental registers and executive summaries.

We build enterprise risk dashboards that connect risks, objectives, controls, indicators and response actions. The design preserves accountable ownership and explains how assessments were reached. Portfolio views highlight concentration and emerging concerns without implying that different risk scales can always be combined into one meaningful number.

Who this is for

  • Risk leaders coordinating registers across business functions or locations.
  • Executive teams reviewing material exposure and response decisions.
  • Control owners tracking effectiveness, evidence and outstanding actions.

Where this can make a practical difference.

Cross-business risk visibility

Bring related exposures into a coherent view while retaining local context. Identify common dependencies and concentrations, distinguishing a shared cause from several independently assessed events.

Control assurance and action tracking

Connect a stated control with its owner, review evidence and identified weaknesses. Show whether an action has merely been completed or whether its effect on the relevant exposure has been assessed.

Emerging indicator monitoring

Track selected indicators with agreed thresholds, reporting periods and response ownership. Record missing or stale inputs so an unchanged indicator is not automatically interpreted as a stable risk.

How we approach the work.

01

Agree the risk language

Define objectives, categories, assessment scales and escalation criteria with your risk owners. Resolve inconsistent meanings before presenting departmental scores together.

02

Connect risks and controls

Model causes, consequences, dependencies, controls and responses separately. Preserve assessment dates and assumptions, including the distinction between exposure before and after the controls being considered.

03

Design indicator ownership

Select indicators that support a specific decision and identify their source. Agree who investigates threshold breaches, how often data is reviewed and what constitutes an actionable change.

04

Build management views

Create executive summaries and detailed owner workspaces. Present uncertainty, overdue actions and control evidence alongside ratings, avoiding an unexplained aggregate that obscures material differences.

05

Rehearse review and escalation

Test the dashboard against representative incidents, changing assessments and disputed ownership. Confirm that the recorded response reaches the person with authority to act.

The sequence is tailored to the agreed scope, dependencies and risk. It describes our delivery approach, not a fixed timeline or performance guarantee.

What the engagement can deliver.

  • Risk taxonomy, assessment definitions and ownership model.
  • Connected risk, control, indicator and action records.
  • Role-specific dashboards and escalation workflows.
  • Assessment history and supporting evidence links.
  • Review guidance and reporting reconciliation checks.

The proposal identifies the deliverables, acceptance evidence, responsibilities and support arrangements included in your engagement.

Measure what matters to this workflow.

Action ageing by exposure

Review overdue responses in the context of the risk they address, not simply their number.

Control evidence currency

Measure whether material controls have relevant, reviewed evidence for the agreed assurance period.

Escalation responsiveness

Track the interval between an actionable signal and a recorded decision by the responsible owner.

These are measures to discuss and baseline. Targets are agreed for the specific system and data; no universal improvement percentage is assumed.

What to prepare for discovery.

  • Current risk registers and assessment guidance.
  • Named owners for material risks, controls and indicators.
  • Examples of escalation decisions and management reporting needs.

Questions worth asking.

Can different departmental risk scores be averaged?

Only where the scales and intended interpretation support that calculation. We examine comparability first; a portfolio summary should not turn ordinal categories or unlike exposures into a misleading average.

Will AI discover risks we have missed?

AI can suggest patterns or questions from authorised material. Suggestions require review and should retain their supporting context; absence of an AI warning does not establish absence of risk.

Can the dashboard connect to incident management?

Yes, where the source and permissions are suitable. Incidents can inform assessments and control reviews, while remaining distinct records with their own investigation and closure responsibilities.
